Obverse description Crowned three-fold quartered shield of arms incorporating the arms of the Rhenish Palatinate (lion rampant), Bavaria (lozengy), and the Electoral dignity (orb with Z mark), all within a beaded inner circle. A circular Latin legend surrounds the shield, referencing the titles of Friedrich III, Elector Palatine. The heraldic composition is rendered in the typical late Renaissance hammered style.
