Obverse description A wreath composed of two oak (Quercus robur) branches bearing acorns and leaves, arranged symmetrically and tied at the base with a ribbon bow. The wreath encircles the central field and frames the reverse denomination design. The legend HELVET . REPUBL : appears along the outer border of the obverse, struck in upright Roman capitals. The overall design is restrained and neoclassical in character, consistent with the republican iconography adopted by the Helvetic Republic.
