Panama's 1987 pattern coinage was produced as part of exploratory work on a revised circulating series that ultimately saw limited adoption. The KM#Pn8 designation confirms its pattern status — struck for evaluation rather than circulation, almost certainly in small quantities at a contracted foreign mint, as Panama has never operated its own mint facility.
