Obverse description The national coat of arms of Panama is depicted centrally, featuring a quartered shield supported by flanking sprays of flora — a branch of the national flower (flower of the Holy Spirit) to the left and a cornucopia sprig to the right. The shield is surmounted by a displayed eagle bearing a ribbon inscribed PRO MUNDI BENEFICIO in its beak, with crossed cannons and swords in the upper quarters and a cornucopia and winged wheel in the lower quarters, separated by a wavy band representing the isthmus. The legend REPUBLICA DE PANAMA arcs along the upper periphery in raised Latin characters, accompanied by a row of nine stars below it, and the date and mint mark appear in the lower field.
