| Obverse description | Within an encircling wreath of laurel branches with berries, the papal inscription is arranged in five horizontal lines across the field. The wreath is tied at the base and frames the entire legend area, with star-shaped separators punctuating the lettering. The inscription reads PIVS VI PONT MAX AN VII 1781, recording the papal name, title of Supreme Pontiff, and regnal year alongside the calendar date. The design is entirely typographic with no figural elements, characteristic of Papal States subsidiary coinage of the period. |
