Reverse description Central floriated cross with an annelet at the terminus of each arm, set within a polylobe border; a heraldic lion is placed in each of the four angles formed by the arms of the cross. The eight exterior angles of the polylobe are each decorated with a small trefoil ornament, creating an elaborate Gothic decorative frame. The peripheral legend, inscribed in Lombardic uncial script, carries the devotional Benedictus text. The overall design reflects the deeply religious iconographic programme common to Burgundian gold coinage of the Valois period.
