Additional information

Ahmed III came to power in 1703 after a Janissary revolt deposed his brother Mustafa II — making this early issue a product of a court still consolidating authority under considerable military pressure. The half altın denomination served primarily fiscal and gift-giving functions at the palace level rather than broad market circulation, which accounts for why surviving examples often show minimal wear despite their age.
