| Obverse description | Full-length frontal figure of St. John the Baptist standing, flanked by a two-fold shield of arms displaying the quartered coats of Cleves and Mark. The saint's robes and posture are rendered in the late Gothic style typical of Rhenish hammered coinage. A circular legend in uncial script surrounds the central device, naming Duke Johann II with his titles. |
