Obverse description Central quartered shield bearing the arms of Schleswig-Holstein-Gottorp, featuring lions, hearts, a nettle leaf, and other heraldic charges, surmounted by an ornate crowned helmet with elaborate mantling. Two additional crowned shields flank the base of the central achievement, with a lion passant crest above. The partial legend FRID·G appears to the right of the shield, with the remainder of the ruler's title continuing around the periphery. The overall composition is rendered in the dense, intricate style characteristic of early seventeenth-century North German hammered coinage.
