Obverse description Central shield bearing the quartered arms of Holstein-Schaumburg-Pinneberg, surmounted by an elaborate crowned helmet with mantling extending to both sides. The armorial shield displays the characteristic castle motif of Schaumburg in the lower quarters. The peripheral legend reads E. D. G. C. H. S. E. S. D. G., an abbreviated Latin titulature for Count Ernest, running around the coin within a beaded border. The overall design is typical of early seventeenth-century German hammered coinage, with the heraldic composition occupying most of the coin's field.
