Obverse description Central device features the crowned oval shield of Denmark bearing three passant lions above nine hearts, all within a plain oval cartouche surmounted by an elaborate royal crown. The circumferential legend encircles the entire field, reading clockwise from the upper left. The design is executed in a restrained neoclassical style typical of late 18th-century Scandinavian coinage.

Reverse description The reverse bears a four-line inscription in the field presenting the denomination and date, with the value expressed as 12 pieces to one Rigsdaler Courant. The date is flanked or divided by the crossed hammers mintmark of the Kongsberg Mint. Below the date appear the initials of the mint master, serving as an assayer's mark. The plain field and upright lettering reflect the utilitarian character of this fractional circulation issue.
