| Obverse description | Crowned quartered shield within an ornate baroque cartouche, bearing the arms of Lippe; the central escutcheon contains a further four-fold arrangement of arms. The county title of Simon August, Count of Lippe, is rendered in abbreviated Latin legend encircling the shield. The heraldic composition is rendered in a formal engraved style typical of mid-eighteenth-century German small states coinage. |
