Obverse description Central field displays the elaborate quartered Electoral Saxon coat of arms — incorporating the Rautenkranz (rue wreath) diagonal band across a barry field, flanked by supporters — surmounted by an electoral crown. The escutcheon is presented in baroque cartouche style with foliate mantling. The encircling Latin legend reads D:G:FRID:CHRIST:PR:R:POL&L:EL:SAX:, identifying Frederick Christian by the grace of God as Prince Royal of Poland and Lithuania and Elector of Saxony. The mintmaster's initials IFoF appear at the base of the design.
