Obverse description Central field features the elaborately quartered electoral arms of Saxony — displaying the barry of Saxony with the ruta crown diagonal, the arms of Thuringia, Meissen, and the electoral sword — surmounted by an electoral bonnet and flanked by two crossed palm branches. The mint mark EPH appears below the shield in the lower field. A continuous Latin legend surrounds the design within a milled border, reading clockwise from upper right.
