Obverse description The crowned Saxon coat of arms occupies the central field, displaying the traditional barry of ten sable and or with a bend sinister charged with a crancelin, rendered in fine detail. The royal crown surmounts the shield, flanked by decorative supporters. The circular legend reads ANTON V. G. G. KOEN. V. SACHS. S, an abbreviation for Anton von Gottes Gnaden König von Sachsen, running around the full periphery of the coin within a beaded border. The mintmark S, for the Dresden Mint, appears below the shield in the lower exergue.

Encircling the central legend along the upper periphery is the fineness inscription 160 EINE FEINE MARK, indicating that 160 coins of this type were struck from one fine mark of silver. A small decorative rosette or floral ornament appears at the base of the design, and the whole is enclosed within a beaded border.
