Obverse description Central crowned coat of arms of the Polish-Saxon union, comprising a quartered shield displaying the arms of Poland and Saxony with an escutcheon of the Wettin dynasty, supported by elaborate foliate scrollwork. The shield is surmounted by a large royal crown. The mintmaster's initials IH appear in the lower field beneath the shield. The circular legend reads: D G FRID AUGUST REX POL DUX SAX.
