Obverse description Right-facing crowned effigy of King Edward VII, depicted in robes of state with ornate collar and decorations visible at the truncation. The king wears the Imperial State Crown with cross pattée at the apex. The engraver's initials 'DES' appear on the truncation, attributing the portrait to George William de Saulles. The circular legend reads EDWARD VII KING & EMPEROR, with the inscription distributed evenly around the periphery within a beaded border.
