Obverse description Crowned effigy of King George VI facing left, wearing the Imperial State Crown, the portrait executed in high relief after the design by Percy Metcalfe. The king is depicted with a bare neck and simple attire, the crown rendered with fine detail including arches, crosses, and beaded band. The circular legend reads GEORGE VI KING EMPEROR, disposed along the upper and lower periphery, with a fine denticular border encircling the entire obverse field.
