| Obverse description | Aged laureate effigy of Louis XV facing left, with a draped bust truncation, rendered in the style known as the 'Vieille Tête' (old head). The portrait, engraved by Charles Norbert Roettiers, displays fine detail in the facial features and laurel wreath. The encircling legend in Latin identifies the king by name and title, abbreviated around the full periphery of the obverse field. |
