Obverse description Central round perforation surrounded by the denomination ONE PENNY inscribed in large raised letters arcing through the field, with an Arabic legend below the perforation reading the equivalent denomination in Arabic script. A royal crown appears at the top of the design, flanked by the circular legend EDWARD VII KING & EMPEROR running along the periphery. Decorative foliate scroll ornaments flank the central lettering on either side. The entire design is contained within a milled border.

Reverse description Central round perforation encircled by a bold six-pointed star (Star of David) formed by two interlocking equilateral triangles, occupying the majority of the coin's field. The circular legend NIGERIA - BRITISH WEST AFRICA runs along the upper periphery, with two small pellets flanking the date 1906 at the base. The design is framed by a milled outer border.
