Reverse description Armoured and helmeted bust of Vasco Núñez de Balboa facing left, rendered in high relief and extending to the rim. The legend VN·DECIMO·DE·BALBOA arcs around the upper periphery, while a decorative laurel and oak wreath frames the lower portion of the design, encircling the effigy. The overall composition follows the classic design established for the Panamanian 1/10 Balboa series.

Additional information

Panama's piedfort issues of 1982 were struck as collector pieces, but the choice of .400 fine gold is unusual — well below the .900 or .999 standards typical of collector gold. This alloy mirrors the silver-copper composition rationale of Panama's circulating coinage translated awkwardly into gold, producing a piece that sits in an odd metallurgical middle ground.

KM#P3 is sparsely documented even in major references, with mintage figures rarely confirmed in the secondary literature.
