Obverse description The obverse is printed in black on white paper with an elaborate engraved border of interlocking guilloche work and lathe-work ornaments. A central oval vignette presents a portrait of Queen Mary in formal regalia with a crown and jewelled necklace, framed by two large denomination counters reading '1000' at left and right.
