The central panel carries the legend 'DOMINION OF CANADA' in bold capitals above the central denomination motif, while 'One Thousand Dollars' is inscribed in two places along the lower border. The overall design is framed by continuous micro-numeral repeating borders reading '1000' and 'M', with an architectural vignette of a classical building rendered at the top centre.
