Reverse description Printed entirely in blue intaglio, the reverse centres on a large lathe-work oval enclosing the "$1000" numeral motif, surrounded by an elaborate radiating guilloche underprint. The denomination "1000" is repeated in rectangular panels at left and right, with corner rosettes bearing the letter "M" integrated into the dense geometric scrollwork border, and the inscription "DOMINION OF CANADA" placed at the lower centre.
