| Additional information |
This piece belongs to a short-lived Polish collector series issued in the final months of communist rule and the immediate aftermath — a period when the National Bank of Poland was simultaneously managing hyperinflation that had wiped out the zloty's practical value and attempting to generate hard currency through prestige numismatic exports. The denomination itself was almost satirical: one million zlotys would buy perhaps a loaf of bread at the time of issue.
Poland redenominated its currency in 1995, replacing 10,000 old zlotys with one new złoty, rendering the face value technically extinct.
