Obverse description Brown letterpress Notgeld on plain paper with an elaborate geometric border composed of diamond-shaped panels containing industrial and civic vignettes — including an anchor, a mine cart, a lion, and stylized floral motifs — framed by circular corner medallions bearing a three-armed wheel device. The central text panel carries the denomination "Eine Million Mark" in large Fraktur type, with a green guilloche underprint showing the numeral "1000000"; above and below the central panel, green numerals "1 000 000" appear on ribbon banners. Date of issue "Bochum, den 1. August 1923" and validity clause are printed in smaller Fraktur script, with the issuer's name in bold below; two manuscript signatures and a serif serial letter and number appear at the foot.
