| Obverse description | The left half of the note is occupied by a detailed intaglio-style portrait vignette of Friedrich List, the German economist, executed in dark violet-brown ink with fine line engraving, signed 'E. Heegmann' at lower left; his name is captioned below the portrait. The right half carries the denomination '1 000 000' at the top followed by the large letterpress legend 'Eine Million Mark', below which a three-line redemption text and the issue date 'Reutlingen, den 23. August 1923' are printed. Two manuscript signatures appear above the titles 'Oberbürgermeister' and 'Stadtpfleger', and a circular red municipality seal of Reutlingen is affixed at lower right alongside a red alpha-numeric serial number. |
