| Obverse description | Letterpress-printed emergency note in ochre-gold and blue-grey tones, framed by a decorative guilloche border of interlocking scrollwork at the corners and repeating arch motifs along the edges. At centre, a blue-grey underprint vignette of the Haltern municipal coat of arms — a crowned figure holding a sceptre above an anchor — underlies the bold Fraktur denomination legend "Eine Million Mark". The serial number appears at upper left, the numeric value "1 000 000.-" at upper right, and the date "25. August 1923" together with two manuscript signatures of the issuing authorities are positioned in the lower half. |
