Additional information

This is the second one-tonne gold coin struck by the Perth Mint, following the original 2011 issue that was produced partly as a publicity exercise and partly as a direct response to the Royal Canadian Mint's hundred-kilogram $1,000,000 coin of 2007. At 800mm across and cast rather than conventionally struck, it pushed the boundaries of what qualifies as a minted coin versus a manufactured ingot — a distinction the numismatic community has never fully settled.

The Guinness World Record for largest gold coin was held by this series. Physical custody remains with the Perth Mint.
