| Obverse description | Brown and ochre Notgeld Gutschein on cream paper, enclosed within a decorative guilloche border. The denomination "Eine Milliarde Mark" is rendered in large ornate blackletter script across the centre, below the heading "Dieser Gutschein über", with a red serial number and asterisk printed beneath. A left-side panel in red carries the validity notice for the Regierungsbezirke Aachen und Köln with the expiry date of 1 April 1924, while the lower portion bears the issuing text, the date "Düren, den 4 Oktober 1923", the authority statement of the Stadtgemeinde Düren, and the facsimile signature of Der Oberbürgermeister. |

| Obverse lettering | Dieser Gutschein über Eine Milliarde Mark Stadt Düren ist durch Hinterlegung von Reichsschatzanweisungen gedeckt. Er wird von den kommunalen Kassen u. Sparkassen, sowie den Banken des Kreises Düren in Zahlung genommen. Der Schein verliert seine Gültigkeit mit Ablauf einer Woche nach Aufruf in den Dürener Zeitungen. Die Stadtgemeinde Düren hastet für die Einlösung. Düren, den 4 Oktober 1923 Der Oberbürgermeister Umlaufähig in den Regierungsbezirken Aachen und Köln Gültig bis zum 1. April 1924 |
