Obverse description Lilac and purple underprint on a light ground with fine guilloche patterning; to the right, an intaglio-style crowned portrait vignette of King Richard I (the Lionheart) in regal attire, flanked on the left by a historical vignette of Crusader knights bearing lances and banners alongside a circular equestrian medallion seal of the king.
