Täsch is the valley village immediately below Zermatt — cars stop here because Zermatt itself is car-free, and visitors park before boarding the shuttle train up. The 0 Franc note leans into that local identity: issued by the commune as a novelty souvenir piece in 2018, it carries a face value of zero and was never intended as a circulating instrument. That Oberthur Fiduciaire in France handled the printing is not incidental — the firm produces security documents for dozens of governments, and commissioning them signals that the commune wanted something that looked and felt genuinely banknote-authentic rather than a tourist trinket run off on commercial stock.
