Euro Souvenir is a licensed commercial program operating under European Central Bank authorization, producing zero-denomination collector notes sold as souvenirs at tourist sites, museums, and cultural institutions across the Eurozone. They carry no monetary value and are exempt from counterfeiting law precisely because of that denomination. Oberthur Fiduciaire prints them on genuine banknote paper with real security features — watermark and hologram included — which is partly the point: the tactile experience of holding something that feels like currency.
Victor Hugo published Les Misérables in 1862. The Cosette imagery on this note derives from the Émile Bayard illustration that appeared in the original edition — one of the most reproduced images in French publishing history.
