Haribo's Uzès connection is the real story here. Georges Rigaud founded the company in Uzès in 1912 — long before Hans Riegel's Bonn operation gave the brand its name — and the town has claimed that heritage ever since. The Musée du Bonbon, housed in a restored 17th-century building, opened in 2000 and draws well over 100,000 visitors annually, making it one of the more visited confectionery museums in Europe.
The zero-euro souvenir note program, administered by UEDE and printed by Oberthur Fiduciaire, uses genuine banknote paper and authentic security features specifically to satisfy EU regulations governing items that might otherwise constitute imitation currency. The watermark is not decorative — it's a legal requirement.
