Finland's NATO accession on 4 April 2023 ended over seven decades of official military non-alignment — a policy maintained even through the Cold War, when Finland shared an 1,340-kilometre border with the Soviet Union. The decision, driven directly by Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, moved with unusual speed: application submitted in May 2022, ratified by all thirty existing member states within eleven months.
The 0 Euro souvenir note format, produced by Oberthur Fiduciaire under licence from the ECB, has no legal tender status anywhere. Collectors should note that print runs for commemorative 0 Euro pieces vary considerably by retailer and venue, and Oberthur does not publish official figures.
