Eurosouvenirs zero-euro notes are a French-conceived collector scheme launched around 2015, licensed through the European Central Bank and produced by Oberthur Fiduciaire under strict technical specifications — including genuine banknote paper and a holographic security strip — to ensure they feel and handle like circulating currency without actually being legal tender. The zero denomination is the precise legal mechanism that keeps them off the books as forgeries.

The Sagrada Família edition is one of hundreds of tourist-site issues. Oberthur has printed well over a million individual titles across the series, which makes condition largely irrelevant as a scarcity driver — these were made to be kept, not spent.
