The Pont de Saint-Nazaire souvenir zero euro note was among the earliest releases in what became a surprisingly durable commercial format — Oberthur Fiduciaire launched the series in 2016 in partnership with a handful of French tourist sites, testing whether the public would pay for a banknote with no redemption value. They would, and enthusiastically. The Saint-Nazaire bridge, spanning the Loire estuary at just over 3,300 metres, was one of the longest cable-stayed bridges in the world at its 1975 opening.
