EuroBillet's "0 Euro" series occupies a peculiar niche: legal novelties printed to genuine banknote specifications by a licensed security printer, but with no monetary value and no issuing central bank behind them. Oberthur Fiduciaire — one of the few private firms historically authorized to produce circulating European currency — prints these on proper banknote paper with the usual security features intact, which is precisely what makes collectors take them seriously as printing artifacts even when the subject matter skews toward the commemorative gift market.
The Ukraine edition appeared in 2022 following the February invasion, placing it firmly in a wave of solidarity merchandise. Worth nothing as currency; worth tracking as a document of how quickly the souvenir note industry responds to geopolitical events.
