The Beemster polder, drained in 1612 using a ring of 43 windmills and pumping stations, was inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1999 — one of the few agricultural landscapes to receive that status. The 0 Euro souvenir program, administered by the Paris-based PEAE, has issued hundreds of these collector pieces since 2015, each printed by Oberthur Fiduciaire to genuine banknote specification on security paper with the standard euro-format microprinting and UV features intact.

No legal tender status, no central bank backing — the denomination is the point.
