The EuroSouvenir program began in France around 2015 and has since expanded aggressively across European tourist sites, issuing zero-denomination notes that are legal in design — printed by licensed security printers on genuine banknote paper — but carry no face value and no legal tender status anywhere. Oberthur Fiduciaire, one of Europe's major security printers, produces these under strict ECB guidelines governing what may and may not replicate euro note aesthetics.

The Castello Sforzesco edition joins a very crowded Italian souvenir series. Collectibility depends almost entirely on whether the issuing venue date-stamps or serializes individual runs.
