Obverse description Central vignette of Marie Curie (born Maria Salomea Skłodowska), Polish-French physicist and chemist, rendered in intaglio-style portraiture. Periodic table entries for Polonium (Po, 84) and Radium (Ra, 88), the two elements she discovered, appear as underprint accents flanking the portrait. Inscriptions record her two Nobel Prize distinctions: Physics (1903) and Chemistry (1911).

UENA's commemorative zero-euro notes occupy an odd space in collecting: technically legal tender in denomination only, issued under a European Central Bank exemption that permits private operators to produce collector pieces in the euro format provided they carry no monetary value. Oberthur Fiduciaire — one of the few security printers with the authorizations to produce them legally — has handled the bulk of this market since it took off around 2015.

Marie Curie is among the most frequently issued subjects in the zero-euro souvenir series, appearing across multiple operators and years. A 2023 UENA edition adds to that count without particular distinction.
