EuroSouvenir notes are a French-originated commercial scheme launched around 2015, in which licensed souvenir retailers commission zero-denomination pieces printed to genuine euro banknote security specifications — same paper, same Oberthur Fiduciaire presses used for real European currency contracts. They carry no legal tender status anywhere, but the printing standards are not decorative: UV-reactive inks, microprinting, and the full security thread are present.
Maria Theresia died in 1780 having never governed a territory that used euros or their precursors by that name, which makes the denomination choice entirely the point — the anachronism is the product.
