EuroSouvenir notes are legal tender in their country of issue — technically — but exist entirely outside any monetary function. This 2023 piece marks the tenth anniversary of Willem-Alexander's accession on 30 April 2013, the first Dutch king in 123 years following the long succession of queens from Wilhelmina through Beatrix. Oberthur Fiduciaire, which prints genuine euro banknotes for several eurozone central banks, produces the entire EuroSouvenir range with full security printing specifications, which is what keeps the series legally defensible while remaining commercially driven.

The zero denomination was a deliberate workaround to avoid counterfeiting law complications across member states.
