The 0 Euro souvenir program, administered by the Union Européenne des Journaux et Collectionneurs (UEJC), launched in 2015 as a formally licensed collectible — legal tender in the strictest technical sense, though no retailer is obligated to accept them. Oberthur Fiduciaire produces them to genuine banknote specification, including the holographic strip, which gives the series its odd credibility as an object.
The Deshaies botanical garden, established in the 1980s on the northwestern coast of Basse-Terre, gained wider recognition as a filming location for the BBC/France Télévisions series *Death in Paradise*.
