EuroSouvenir's zero-denomination collector notes occupy an odd legal space — they carry the visual grammar of genuine euro banknotes but are explicitly excluded from any monetary function under a licensing arrangement with the European Central Bank that permits their production provided they bear the "0 Euro" denomination. Oberthur Fiduciaire, a serious security printer with genuine euro production credentials, applies the same substrate and print technologies to these as to circulating currency, which is precisely the point of the exercise.

The Gyulai Almásy-kastély — the Almásy manor in Gyula, Hungary — is a 19th-century neoclassical pile restored in the post-communist period and now operating as a hotel. Its appearance in the souvenir note series reflects the ECB-licensed regional tourism program that has driven hundreds of site-specific issues across Europe since 2015.
