Comments

EuroSouvenir notes are printed by licensed security printers under agreement with participating European cultural institutions and are legal collector's items, not legal tender — the zero denomination is a deliberate fiction that sidesteps EU regulations prohibiting private issuance of currency-denominated souvenirs. Oberthur Fiduciaire, which has produced genuine banknotes for dozens of central banks, applies the same security substrate and printing standards here as it does for circulating issues.

Gago Coutinho and Sacadura Cabral completed the first aerial crossing of the South Atlantic in 1922, flying from Lisbon to Rio de Janeiro in stages — a centenary this note was issued to mark.
