Futuroscope, the technology-themed park near Poitiers opened in 1987, is one of France's most visited attractions — an odd but fitting subject for the EuroSouvenir program, which began issuing these zero-denomination collector notes in 2015 as a legal-tender-adjacent novelty bearing full euro design specifications. They carry the official Euro typeface and security features including a genuine watermark and security thread, printed by Oberthur Fiduciaire to the same technical standards applied to circulating currency. The paradox of a high-security banknote printer producing something explicitly worth nothing is, arguably, the most interesting thing about the series.
