Obverse description Violet and lavender guilloche underprint covers the note, with a large intaglio-style zero numeral at left centre and the EU flag vignette at upper left bearing the circular 'EUROSOUVENIR' legend and year code '2018-1'. The right two-thirds of the face carries a detailed line-engraved vignette of the Gothic marble facade of the Basilica di Santa Croce in Florence, rendered in deep purple-violet with a warm yellow-orange graduated tint at upper right, a holographic security element at upper right, and a ring of EU stars arcing across the centre field. The signature of R. Faille, C.E.O., together with the 'EURO SOUV ENIR' logotype in blue and orange, appears at lower centre-right.

Reverse description The reverse carries an overlapping panoramic composition of iconic European landmarks in violet line-engraving against a lavender and pale-orange guilloche underprint: the Brandenburg Gate at left, the Torre de Belém behind it, the Colosseum at lower centre, the Eiffel Tower at centre in diagonal perspective with a microtext underprint, the Sagrada Família at right, and the Manneken Pis statue partially visible at lower right. A semicircle of EU stars appears at upper right, the denomination '0€' is intaglio-printed at upper left, and the 'EURO SOUV ENIR' logotype with the orange-and-purple arc device is placed at lower right alongside the printer's imprint.

The 0 Euro souvenir note program was launched in France in 2015 by SECS, exploiting a legal quirk: because the face value is zero, these notes fall outside European Central Bank jurisdiction and require no monetary authorization to produce. Oberthur Fiduciaire prints them to genuine banknote specification — hologram strip, microtext, intaglio-feel paper — which is precisely the commercial appeal.

The Basilica di Santa Croce edition is one of hundreds of Italian tourist-site issues in the series. Collectibility within this program is driven almost entirely by print run size, which SECS typically caps per location to sustain secondary market demand.
