Fernando Peyroteo — "O Satanás," as Sporting CP supporters called him — scored 331 goals in 197 official matches for the club between 1937 and 1949, a ratio no serious statistician has ever been able to dismiss. The 0 Euro souvenir program, administered by the MEBF and printed by Oberthur Fiduciaire, began issuing these collector notes in the mid-2010s as licensed commemoratives with no tender status whatsoever — the face value is a legal fiction by design.
Peyroteo died in 1978, forty years before this note was issued, placing the commemorative neatly on that anniversary.
