Euro Souvenir's zero-denomination collector notes have no legal tender status anywhere — they are printed under a commercial license that mimics the visual grammar of genuine euro banknotes but circulates only as tourist merchandise. Oberthur Fiduciaire, one of the established security printers behind actual French fiscal documents, produces them with a genuine hologram strip, which gives the piece more physical credibility than its commemorative status strictly requires.
The Domaine de Chantilly issue appeared the same year the estate's major restoration work was drawing renewed international attention to the site's collections.
